About This Independent Boston City Guide

Boston Travel Guide is an independent guide to things to do in Boston, with 216 articles on attractions, areas, itineraries, day trips, guides and answers, plus 54 verified bookable products.

What This Guide Is

This guide is an independent, reader-first look at what to book in Boston. It is not a tour operator, a ticket desk, or a travel agency, and it has no affiliation with the City of Boston, Meet Boston, the Department of Conservation and Recreation, or any museum, boat line or venue named on these pages. Nothing is sold here. Every booking happens on the live listing of the company that actually runs the tour, so the operator you pay is the operator you travel with.

What Gets Covered

The site compares 52 bookable products across 12 categories: 47 paid tours and tickets, and five free pay-what-you-want walks listed on GuruWalk. Coverage leans toward the historic core inside a mile of Boston Common, since that is where most first visits are spent, and extends out to the day-trip range: Salem, Concord and Lexington, Cape Cod, Martha's Vineyard, Gloucester and Newport. Each tour page shows the rating, review count and duration exactly as the live listing states them, and no price is quoted here because fares shift with dates and group size. The listing carries the current figure.

Where The Numbers Come From

Every rating, review count and duration on this site is checked against the live listing more than once before it reaches a page. A second pass catches what a first read misses, and figures that could not be read cleanly are dropped entirely rather than guessed at. When a price moves with dates or group size, no number appears and the live booking page carries the current figure instead. Nothing is rounded up, approximated or implied. That discipline is why a few tours show up with no figures attached at all.

How The Checking Works

Every figure here traces back to a source we can name. Tour ratings and review counts come from the operators' live listings; pass prices come from Go City's own Boston pricing. Where a number could not be confirmed, it does not appear at all. Red Sox, Celtics and Bruins games, Boston Pops concerts, the Boston Marathon, the Swan Boats and official Harvard and MIT tours carry no figures on this site, because none of them are bookable through it. Fenway Park tours and the Sports Museum at TD Garden are bookable and do carry figures. Museum free days are a Massachusetts residency benefit, not a visitor perk, and we never present them as free for tourists. The live service reading comes from the MBTA's public v3 alerts API and the tide reading from NOAA CO-OPS station 8443970, each attributed to its publisher on the page.

Who Runs This

There is no byline here and no single voice pretending to be a local. The site behaves like a research desk: it reads official sources, operator listings and public data, then reports what it finds. Nothing gets published on the strength of memory or opinion, and no page claims a credential, a childhood in the city, or a ticket stub in a drawer. A statement without a source behind it does not run at all.
